McMullen and Greene Launch Action-Horror Origin Story Inspired by Survival Horror Classics
JACKSONVILLE, NC – A gripping new action-horror feature with sci-fi elements is now in development from writer-director David McMullen, with Anthony Greene serving as executive producer. Described as the origin story of a larger cinematic universe, the film draws inspiration from genre-defining survival horror games such as Silent Hill, 7 Days to Die, and Parasite Eve.
Set in 1962, the film follows a young U.S. Marine combat correspondent sent to an unmarked military facility for what appears to be a standard assignment. But as the story unfolds, a hidden Cold War-era project emerges—one shrouded in secrecy, science, and something far more unsettling.
“This is where it all begins,” said McMullen. “We’re building a grounded, character-driven story that spirals into something much bigger—something that sets the tone for the world we’ll continue to explore in future films.”
The project is said to blend retro military realism with psychological tension and biological horror, channeling the atmospheric dread and escalating survival elements that made its game inspirations iconic.
Executive Producer Anthony Greene emphasized the long-term vision behind the project: “This is the spark. It’s a standalone story, yes—but it’s also the first chapter of something far more expansive and dangerous.”
While specific plot details are being kept under tight wraps, early development notes hint at a slow-burning narrative with escalating terror, a stylized 1960s backdrop, and an unsettling mystery at the film’s core.
Currently in development, the film promises to deliver a fresh yet nostalgic take on action-horror storytelling, setting the stage for what could become a thrilling and terrifying cinematic saga.
Further announcements on casting, production, and connected future installments are expected soon.
